MEETING MINUTES
May 17, 2012
4:00 p.m.
Location: City Council Chamber, 1st floor, City Hall – St. James Building; 117 West Duval Street
In attendance: Council Members Stephen Joost, Bill Bishop, Greg Anderson, Lori Boyer, Doyle Carter, Richard Clark, John Crescimbeni, Kimberly Daniels, Johnny Gaffney, Ray Holt, Warren Jones, E. Denise Lee, Jim Love, Robin Lumb, Matt Schellenberg, Don Redman, Clay Yarborough; Council Members Bill Gulliford and Reginald Brown were excused. Mayor Alvin Brown; Chris Hand, Chief of Staff, Ronnie Belton, Chief Financial Officer, Jessica Deal, Council Liaison; Chief Judge Donald Moran.

Meeting Convened: 4:04 p.m.
The Council President requested the Clerk to read the updated Mayor’s veto message dated May 10, 2012.
The Floor Leader moved that Ordinance 2012-299 should be adopted.
The Mayor’s Chief of Staff, Chris Hand, updated the Council on the work that has been done regarding the furniture issue since the last City Council meeting and the Mayor’s veto. Mr. Hand noted that there was ample furniture to move to the new court house to furnish 37 hearing rooms; 7 of those rooms had already been taken care of.
Public Works Director Jim Robinson commented that he had visited the current court house on Monday and Tuesday (May 14th & 15th) to take a look at, inventory and document furniture; he met with Judges Day and Cooper. Mr. Robinson asked the City Council to sustain the Mayor’s veto.
Chief Judge Donald Moran thanked the individual City Council Members for their visits to the court house.
Council Member Denise Lee called the question.
The Council President read the instructions as to how to vote pursuant to Council Rules.
On adopting the Ordinance, there were 15 yes votes; 2 no votes (Clark, Crescimbeni).
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
